War on the View

Oh Boy!

I can not even remember the last time I watched the view… but I just saw this video over on Hot Air, and I am not sure I have seen anything like it on the daily talk shows since that creep Parsons (who claimed to killing Jon Benet) on That one show (don’t even remember the name?) or maybe back to Geraldo getting his nose broken! Looks like the 2 are getting super real with each other since Rosie is on her way out anyway. Check it out.

Oh my goodness, I couldn’t even watch the whole thing. I really couldn’t!!! I CAN NOT STAND Rosie O’Donnell, to the point that I should probably ask God for forgiveness since I have A TON of terrible thoughts about that woman!! I will try and come back later to finish watching it so I can give a more coherent comment, but I need a time out right now!! She gets me so stinking fired up.

  2. 2 southerngirlmusings May 23, 2007 at 6:29 pm

(waiting for the stunned silence to end)….Okay, I do not watch daytime talk either so thank you for sharing this clip. You were too kind when you said that they got super real with each other, I think they both really let their hair hang down and their true colors (all the ones in Elizabeth’s dress) come out. Joy and the other lady couldn’t get a word in edge wise.

Having missed the original banter referenced 2 days ago, I must say that despite how it would be spun, Rosie should have said something and not cop out with how it will look. Most people have already decided whether or not they like her so however her justification is spun will not win/lose her any fans. We all know the quote “Stand for something or you will fall for anything” and she didn’t take a stand.

I have to admit Elizabeth held her own and being that I do not watch the show, I was happy to see that because if I recall when she started she showed deference to those on the show.

The war is such a sticky topic and it crosses political lines and it is rather sad that it is being defined along those lines because there are so many families (here and in Iraq) that need to see/feel that in the end the good will outweigh the bad.

  3. 3 Haji P May 23, 2007 at 6:34 pm

Go Rosie!! Scenario 1: lets clean up America of all the murderers, drug dealers and white collar crimes (getting rich on oil contracts from the Middle East) which help support terrorist! and while the military tries to “smoke them out” who really cares if innocent American lives are lost, they too are terrorist for living in the same country?

  4. 4 mommyzabs May 23, 2007 at 7:39 pm

Missy, definitly finish watching… the end is the real stuff.

SGM, Yes the war is sticky… but regardless of a persons view on teh war… to illude that our guys are terrorists is just absurd. You are right in saying it isnt fair to the troops or their families here… What Rosie seems to miss is that we aren’t fighting Iraq, but the terrorists that have come into there. Whether we should have been there in the first place? I don’t know…but we are and to leave now seem irresponsible.

Haji, Thanks for visiting. I rarely get Rosie Supporters here 🙂 While I see that could be a good point… I think one aspect is missing in the logic is that these aren’t for the most part Iraqi criminals (though I am sure some are from Iraq). They are terrorists who have come into Iraq to fight us… They may be there more easily because we were there in the first place… and it could even be possible the radicals are getting more radical because of it… but make no mistake, we aren’t dealing with the run of the mill criminal.
I do appreciate you sharing your thoughts though becaause i hadn’t heard that one.

  5. 5 holly May 23, 2007 at 7:49 pm

O-h my-gosh. Wow. I don’t have the opportunity to watch day time tv anymore, so thanks for sharing the clip. Those two were definately getting real!

  6. 6 southerngirlmusings May 23, 2007 at 9:03 pm

    MZ,

Being that in my earlier post I stated that I was unaware of the comments referenced in the video, I did some searching and found a quick transcript of that conversation. My point still stands that Rosie should have taken a stand and either defended her remarks or took back her remarks (which were absurd). In the video clip she just kept going on and on about how the media will spin it, if one is concerned that the media got it wrong, then defend yourself and set them straight – she didn’t do anything but talk about Elizabeth who was defending her comments quite well. Just my 2 cents.

  7. 7 mommyzabs May 23, 2007 at 9:19 pm

    SG, Nice flower 🙂
THanks for linking to that! You are totally right on. I think she was just called out and didn’t have a response. She just talks loud and authoritative instead of with substance. so when called on facts/substance she just doesn’t have it. Although One thing i do think she has thought out well (to give her some credit) is the HPV vaccine. I think it is the only thing we agree on 🙂

  8. 8 Brian May 23, 2007 at 9:30 pm

Rosie is a multi-faceted individual, who not only shares her views and life on The View, but also on her blog through her posts and responses to comments. Any regular visitor of her blog would know exactly what she meant by those statements.

She has said time and time again that she LOVES the troops, which is why she wants them home. She blames BUSH and CHENEY for the war, for sending innocent troops to die, for ordering torture, etc. She DOES NOT place any blame on the troops. Anyone who says otherwise is twisting her words.

The other day when she asked who the real terrorists were, she was implying that it was our government, not the troops.

The media is out to get this woman. Why? Because she is an outspoken, controversial, lesbian who pushes the envelope on preconceived notions of family, sexuality, and political views.

  9. 9 southerngirlmusings May 23, 2007 at 10:10 pm

    Brian,

This isn’t my blog and I hope MZ doesn’t mind, but what is the preconceived notion behind 1 man, 1 woman as it relates to family and sexuality? Yes, Rosie has her lifestyle but that lifestyle doesn’t have to be hung out for all to see and hear about as if it is the standard or the norm. She has chosen to be the outspoken and controversial person that she is and it serves her purpose – to be in the media.

As it relates to politics, I am always reminded of 1 Timothy 2:1-3 – First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,

No matter who is in charge, prayer is key and speaking against the leaders (especially implying that they are terrorists) is just wrong and sends the wrong message to others IMO.

  10. 10 wytammic May 23, 2007 at 11:20 pm

She blames BUSH and CHENEY for the war, for sending innocent troops to die, for ordering torture, etc. She DOES NOT place any blame on the troops.

You make it sound like our troops are being forced to serve and protect our country. Last I checked, there was no draft, only good and decent men and women who know that freedom always comes with a price. You see, the beauty of this nation is the people who are willing to fight to keep us free.

Rosie’s words do not need to be twisted. She would not admit that she doesn’t believe our troops to be terrorists. Her own words damn her, no one else’s.

  11. 11 sparklejensen May 24, 2007 at 5:23 am

I definitely tend to disagree with them both. I think Elizabeth is way too far to the right and Rosie takes the left perspective and runs to the edge of insanity with it and then jumps off. I have to say that I definitely support Elizabeth’s point of view here. She defends herself well and doesn’t cower to the bullying. So good for her.

  12. 12 misi May 24, 2007 at 7:31 am

    Brian,
There are many other lesbians in the spotlight i.e. Ellen? She does not tout all her sexuality out there and look for controversy the way Rosie does.
Personally guys, Rosie WANTS this conversation to continue because good or bad she LOVES the attention.
I personally will not give it a second thought.

  13. 13 Christine May 24, 2007 at 7:54 am

Yesterday’s “View” was inevitable; the 2 are ticking time bombs and I fear that even worse scenarios will take place before Rosie departs. The more Elizabeth speaks, the more the American public learns just how stupid she is. She is a puppet who is coached very carefully by the Bush buffoons. She ought to pack up her low cut dresses and empty her dressing room; she insults anyone with intelligence. Why the world goes after Rosie is beyond comprehension when she loves the USA and our troops.

  14. 14 GayRepublican May 24, 2007 at 9:03 am

The View was meant for “views” and I am all for constructive debate, but one look at Joy Behar’s face at the start of the video says it all. Everyone has had enough of the Jerry Springer, trailer park fights. Can we get back to four people having a civilized conversation?
And for the record, the Loud One does not speak for all of us 🙂

  15. 15 Heather May 24, 2007 at 9:21 am

WHOA! That was a little heated, LOL!

  16. 16 totaltransformation May 24, 2007 at 9:34 am

Rosie is the last person who should be calling anyone else a coward. She is just a loud mouth, and a rather obnoxious one lately.

  17. 17 totaltransformation May 24, 2007 at 9:36 am

“She is a puppet who is coached very carefully by the Bush buffoons”

Indeed. The take time out of their busy schedule of covering up the 9/11 conspiracy and plotting war against Venezuela to “coach” one of the co-hosts of The View. Tin foil hat on a little too tight today Christine?

  18. 18 Brian May 24, 2007 at 10:23 am

    @ wytammic,

While it’s true that our military is a volunteer force, that doesn’t necessarily mean that they are all happy to be in Iraq. Many of them signed up before this war and had to go whether they wanted to or not. They are also forced to go again and again through the use of a backdoor draft, which prevents them from leaving the military when they have served their time.

    @southerngirlmusings,

My point was this. Rosie goes against what most Americans consider to be “normal”, and that is part of the reason that she is so reviled.

    @misi,

Ellen certainly doesn’t flout her sexuality now, but do you remember her comedy? After she came out, every single episode was about her being gay. That certainly led to its demise. I’m certain that fear is what prevents her from doing so now.

For the record, I don’t agree with everything that Rosie says (just most of it), but I certainly support her right to say it. I don’t think that yesterday’s screaming match serves any purpose other than increasing the ratings for the remainder of this season of The View.

  19. 19 Randy May 24, 2007 at 11:48 am

Having never seen the show before, I watched the entire clip. I kept waiting for someone, anyone, to say something intelligent. I was disappointed.

I keep wanting to take people like this and look them in they eye and ask them “Does your mother know what you are doing?” I think their mothers would be ashamed. If my children argued like this, I’d send them both to their rooms.

Thank you for posting the clip. It convinced me that I’ve lost nothing by avoiding the show.

  20. 20 wytammic May 24, 2007 at 12:17 pm

They are also forced to go again and again through the use of a backdoor draft, which prevents them from leaving the military when they have served their time.

I think it’s called re-enlisting because you give a damn about someone other than yourself.

    (Sorry for the language MZ)

  21. 21 Heidi Jo May 24, 2007 at 12:21 pm

oh boy, glad i’m getting to read the comments before jumping in on this one:-)

elizabeth is anything but stupid, and neither is rosie. it is possible, believe it or not, for two women to believe two different things without one of them being labeled ignorant.

rosie is annoying….but not stupid. rosie is loud….but not stupid. rosie is different from me….but not stupid.

to start explaining the depths and miles of differences of thought that i have with her, and to try and defend why would be wasted time for us all- because really, what does it matter? but i will say, i disagree with rosie’s stance on just about EVERYTHING. does this make me a gay-hating, repressed, mindless, cowardly, ignorant republican….i don’t think so. but i’m sure many do.

thanks for another great reason NOT TO WATCH TELEVISION;-)

  22. 22 Christine May 24, 2007 at 12:22 pm

Far right-wingers and war mongers believe exactly what they want to, including Bush’s propaganda. Denial is a very dangerous thing; so is ignorance. In yesterday’s program, Joy read off only the beginning of a very long list of incredible errors made by Bush that are inexcusable. I’m glad she did so – Americans need to be reminded of the ilk running our country and I agree with Joy that the impeachment process is a moral imperative. Not once could Barbie Doll Elizabeth explain, excuse or deny a single item on that list. Her recent invitation to the White House has gone to her head. I see around the internet that Elizabeth won’t win any popularity contests either. She has been called “an uneducated token blonde”; “a no-talent unschooled child”; “a tool for the Bush administration”; “inept”…. amongst other things. Elizabeth cannot grasp an intelligent thought. She’ll pay for it some day. It’s easy for her to support war, violence, senseless killing – she has no children in the military. Talk is cheap. And her comment about Donald Trump was uncalled for; it showed her immaturity and pettiness. I was hoping someone – anyone – would smack her.

  23. 23 Jim May 24, 2007 at 12:48 pm

No clear winner there. Both talked over each other and didn’t fully answer the others questions.

The point Rosie was making is how does it appear to an Iraqi? That’s all. How does reportedly up to 650k dead look to an Iraqi? Sure, many are killing each other, but that is instability brought about by our occupation. So once again, how does our occupation look to an Iraqi? That was her point, plus the fact that raising that very question gets spun to, “are you calling the US terrorists?”

I think Rosie was being biblical without even knowing it. “Consider others as more important than yourself.” Phil. 2:3

  24. 24 Patriot May 24, 2007 at 12:53 pm

it’s always so refreshing to hear someone who clings to an anti-war stance get so violent with their speech…

  25. 25 wytammic May 24, 2007 at 1:03 pm

    Barbie Doll Elizabeth

    somebody sounds jealous

  26. 26 misi May 24, 2007 at 1:10 pm

LOL, I was going to write that same thing but I didn’t, NOW I am laughing hysterically. You are so right Wytammic!!!

  27. 27 Randy May 24, 2007 at 1:12 pm

    Brian,
What is meant by a “back-door” draft? My step-son served four years in the army, one tour in Afghanistan and one in Iraq. After the Iraq tour, he came home in May, exited the Army in October. As per his agreement before he signed up, he’s on inactive reserve. Not called up, but possible.

As for reservists, many are happy to serve their country. I wish all employers would help them out by making up any difference in pay that results in their service. To me, that’s the patriotic thing for business to do. As for those who feel like they didn’t volunteer for this war, they did volunteer to collect the reserve pay when it was easy. They would be shirking their responsibility to walk away now.

I guess I don’t understand what you meant.

  28. 28 Brian May 24, 2007 at 1:20 pm

“I think it’s called re-enlisting because you give a damn about someone other than yourself.”

Do some research on stop-loss in the military. It’s ironic that the same people who attack Rosie for being loud and ignorant are throwing around language like that to make an incorrect point.

Here is a very recent article posted in the Concord Monitor by two parents who’s son is a victim of this process.

“I see around the internet that Elizabeth won’t win any popularity contests either. She has been called “an uneducated token blonde”; “a no-talent unschooled child”; “a tool for the Bush administration”; “inept”…. amongst other things.”

I guess you’ve been hanging around the MoveOn.org message boards a little too much. Glad to see petty jealousies over pretty girls being more popular still dominate the mind of the enlightened progressive class amongst us.

Perhaps you might share with us why you call Hasselback, a Boston college graduate, “uneducated” and “unschooled”? Is it because she disagrees with you? The tolerance of the left is a beautiful thing to witness.

“Elizabeth cannot grasp an intelligent thought.”

Which would separate her from you how? You expect to be taken seriously? You might want to show that you have the ability to do something other than post rather petty and unsubstantiated ad hominem attacks.

“She’ll pay for it some day.”

One of your peace loving leftist buddies gonna beat up a skinny girl with an autoimmune disease? How peace loving of you. That will show her.

    “Talk is cheap.”

After reading your vitriolic spew, I mean, your comments, at least we can agree on that.

“And her comment about Donald Trump was uncalled for; it showed her immaturity and pettiness.”

Are you trying for comedic value at this point? I mean, you have to be joking, right? Go reread your commentary on her and think about who is immature and petty- not to mention jealous.

“I was hoping someone – anyone – would smack her.”

Well, that isn’t a very nice position to take. You know disagreement doesn’t have to be settled by violence. I thought you leftists were trying to teach that to the rest of us?

  30. 30 wytammic May 24, 2007 at 1:57 pm

LOL, I was going to write that same thing but I didn’t, NOW I am laughing hysterically. You are so right Wytammic!!!

Thanks Misi — I’m sure you are not as mean as me 🙂 Glad to help you laugh though 🙂

Ruh roh — I’ve been at MZ’s blog too much. You can tell by the number of smilies used 🙂

  31. 31 Randy May 24, 2007 at 3:28 pm

    Brian,
Thanks for the information about “back-door” drafts. Bottom line about joining the military is that when you join, the armed services owns you. You may think that you’re going to be a fly-boy, but you can be re-assigned anywhere.

I’m not sure how the miltary does things now, but when I looked enlisting 30 years ago, I understood there were no guarantees. Two of my brothers joined back then, neither got the assignment they signed up for. One got an assignment very close and he was happy. He stayed 22 years (and saw action in Iraq I). The other got an assignment way off his choice and stayed 4 years.

But both of my brothers volunteered and the individual airman/soldier you pointed to did too.

  32. 32 Brian May 24, 2007 at 4:48 pm

    Randy,

It’s true that the military/government owns them, which simply supports Rosie’s idea that the government, not the soldiers, is responsible for the atrocities committed during this war.

Don’t you just love how these little debates always go in circles? 🙂

  33. 33 Christine May 24, 2007 at 5:25 pm

Methinks there are some here with a serious “crush” on Elizabeth. Obviously, some do not understand the Barbie Doll Syndrome. It does not relate to jealousy. I am not shallow, so please refrain from childish name calling and slurs when you do not know me.

I’ll leave the playpen to the kids here. Oh – one final comment – a college education does not guarantee a person is smart with a sense of right vs. wrong, particularly where our precious troops are concerned. We want them home now, and alive. Peace to all. Bye.

  34. 34 totaltransformation May 24, 2007 at 6:23 pm

“I am not shallow, so please refrain from childish name calling and slurs when you do not know me.”

What name did I call you that offended you? Liberal? I would think you could handle that, considering you called Hasselback:

“an uneducated token blonde”; “a no-talent unschooled child”; “a tool for the Bush administration”; “inept”….”

Do you need to be reminded of your original comments?

“The more Elizabeth speaks, the more the American public learns just how stupid she is. She is a puppet who is coached very carefully by the Bush buffoons.”

So how exactly does calling her stupid not qualify as “childish name calling” or a “slur”?

“a college education does not guarantee a person is smart with a sense of right vs. wrong”

So you argue that even if someone has an ACTUAL education they can still be stupid because they don’t agree with your annointed and self-righteous position on the war. For being part of a political movement that preaches tolerance you sure don’t show much tolerance for those who dare to disagree with you.

The next time you want to argue with the big boys and girls Christine you might want to develop a higher level of self-esteem. After all, you should at least be able to take what you dish out. And I don’t remember anyone here calling you “stupid” or “uneducated”- so we really gave you a pass on your rather banal left-wing talking points.

“Methinks there are some here with a serious “crush” on Elizabeth”

Not me. I don’t go for blonds. Brunettes all the way.

  35. 35 mommyzabs May 26, 2007 at 10:11 am

Wow it’s gotton a little hot in here!
Looks like Rosie has left now so there will be no more war concerning the rosie fans vs. elizabeth fans any longer.

A couple points i want to make. (full disclosure- i more often agree with elizabeth then rosie)

    1. It is not right to insult anyones looks, ugly or pretty, fat or skinny, blonde brunette. It bothers me that on both sides people refer to the looks and accociate that with the brains. Whether it be “fat stupid gay rosie” comments, or “pretty dumb barbie blonde elizabeth” the looks God gave them have nothing to do with their intelligence.

    2. I don’t think either of the ladies are stupid. I disagree often with rosie and i certainly don’t like the approach she uses to make her points heard. I feel she steamrolls people that don’t agree. But I do not think she is stupid. Her view on the HPV vaccine a lone showed me that she is more than capeable of processing on an intelligent level, and not spoon-fed what she believes by her political pre-disposition. I just think that some of her opinions (911) are very out there. I think she has arrived on a couple foolish opinions… but you can be smart and be foolish. I do not think either women would be where they are if they were “stupid”. Elizabeth Is not brainless either. Just because someone disagrees your beliefs does not make them dumb. She has obviously put a lot of thoughts into her beliefs and whether you agree or not… its just rediculous to not realize she is smart.

    3. can we disagree passionately without demonizing?

All right- hopefully we are all done on this one 🙂

  36. 36 totaltransformation May 26, 2007 at 10:47 am

I will stop commenting if you swing by my site and check out my latest post.

It reminds me of the Rosie Elisabeth fight.
