Mom Loves Being at Home tagged me to do an 8 random things meme. I like this kind of meme because they arent specific qu’s that I over-think 🙂 And I do love reading these things so I suppose I should participate. Now… what to tell you…
1. I went to a private Christian school from 2nd grade- 12th grade.
2. I’m very watered down ethnically… but I’m Greek, Cherokee, French and a little Irish. The Greek part of my family is what I have been most exposed to… meeting cousins from Greece, Greek Food. Loud HUGE gatherings of family, and the occasional O-PA! My father was brought up in the Greek orthadox church. I feel a little sentamental toward American Indians and how we treated them. Sometimes it brings me to tears.
3. I was a late- bloomer
4. When people use tissues (kleenex), hold it, or play with it it gives me goose-bumps and hurts my ears.
5. I am awfully prone to cavities no matter how much I brush/floss.
6. I HATE hospitals.
7. I can not run because of my bad knees.
8. I once was a Chemistry major and was even offered several scholarships based on it. Still a career in Chemistry did not sound exciting to me.
9. I took a test at a job once and was labele a “color genius”… however lately that seems to have deterioted quite a bit. Probably due to tanning beds when I was younger- who knows.
10. I have double-jointed thumbs, and my elbows over-extend.
Oh wait- that was 10!

1- I am 26 years young and I have lived in the same city my entire life.
2-My parents were 17 and 16 when I was born and they are still married.
3-I hate it when people SMACK while they are eating. Even worse are the gum poppers. I have even asked a stranger in the middle of class to pretty please with a cherry on top to stop popping.
4- I started college doing pre-med,then changed to nursing and even worked in the E.R. for a while before deciding that it wasn’t something I wanted at all.
5- I have always wanted blonde hair.
6- I love,love,love being a mom.
7- I can’t wait to go on a missions trip and I pray that an oppurtunity will open up for me.
HAHAHA I am SUCH a gum popper. I rarely chew it because I can not do it with out popping! AND I MET YOU WITH BLONDE HAIR 🙂 The brown was a surprise 🙂

I’m a gum popper too! My daughter gets annoyed with me if we are in the car and I’m chewing – she says my pops are too loud! I don’t do it if I’m around other people or indoors though (other than my house anyway). 🙂
I don’t run because of bad knees as well. I have no idea what a color genius is! I was a VERY early bloomer. UGH!

1) I surprised my Chem II teacher in high school at the end of the year by kindly informing her I was going into graphic design. She wondered why I took her class.
2) I spent 17 years (K through U04) in public education and turned out ok.
3) I’ve worn sunglasses in the winter time for as long as I can remember.
4) I collect vinyl records, but don’t have a record player
5) I tend to spend more on gas for concerts than the concert ticket
6) listening to auto races on internet radio is a whole lot of fun
7) the 3rd cup of coffee I had tonight wasn’t such a good idea
8) the first and 2nd cups of coffee might not have been such good ideas either

Thanks for the comments on my blog. Yes, I am a triplet..I had a brother (he died at 17) and a sister. Everyone thinks my sister and I are twins. Sometimes I just let them think that because I hate explaining the whole thing.
Ok, I better actually do something productive before my kids wake up!

1. i’m a twin. we never really got along growing up but now we talk at least several times a week and are the best of friends.
2. i hate the smell of doctors offices and hospitals. it makes me want to throw up.
3. i have to start each morning with a cup of coffee, otherwise i can’t function.
4. i’m a very picky person and like to have things done my way.
5. i can be very shy
6. i always wanted a big family and although my pregnancy experience was really wonderful i think that 2 kids is good for me.
7. i was a total party girl in high school and part of college.
8. as a kid i use to catch lighting bugs and take out the part that lit up from the bug and smear it all over me so i could glow to. it’s so gross now that i think about it.
1. When people sneeze too loud it hurts my ears.
2. I hate it when people pinch my nose. Not something that happens often as an adult but that whole “whose got your nose” game as a kid, not so much fun.
3. I’ve broken both my arms.
4. Jeremy and I both got stitches below our knee on March 3, 1994. Approximately 10 yrs before we knew each other existed. Weird.
5. I dream of owning a flat in London.
6. My goal is to hit all 50 states before I kick it. I’ve got quite a few left.
7. I just put chunky blonde highlights in my hair after saying my whole life that I would never put blonde in my hair. I believe this is my husband rubbing off on me.
8. And to go with the science theme of the other comments,I passed out in front of the whole class in a high school chemistry class when I got up from my desk to tell the teacher I wasn’t feeling well after watching a video on Greg Louganis hitting his head at the Olympics.

Hello?! Blowing stuff up…lol.
1. I have always been reluctant to accept change.
2. My background is mixed. My dad is persian and my mom is danish.
3. I have never actually received my degree from college. The last thing my school required me to do was get an elder from my church to approve my “spiritual fitness” to be a graduate from their school. I thought that was absolutely ridiculous and refused on principle.
4. My favourite word is paradox. I think life is summed up within it.
5. I am obsessed with quotes from my favourite authors. I underline in all the books I’ve read and then I go through it after I have finished reading the book to write them all down.
6. I never thought that I would get married or have kids. I’m still not sure.
7. The greatest loves of my life are my brothers.
8. I dream of building and designing an eco friendly house on a surfable beach somewhere in the world.
1..Zabs – you’re only five years older than I am! Why is it that you’re a real adult and I’m not? :p
2..As for heritage, I am, inter alia, Luxembourgian. I found that out when I was a senior in college and doing geneological research – a great-great grandfather was one of the first Luxembourgians in American to hold public office.
3. I love chemistry. Couldn’t get enough of it in college but never wanted to work in a lab.
4. I was blonde until I was 25. Got sick of the gratuitous blonde jokes (the assumption that I was dumb) and the way people treated me. So I went red. Definitely get treated differently and, IMO, a lot better!
5. I’ve been hit by cars twice.
6. The first time Queen of Swords met me, she called me a freak.

See, you’re married, you have kids, a home, and a relatively stable life. I’m transversing the country, finishing school (maybe), job-hunting, and feeling like my career was more on track five years ago when I was an engineer. Sigh.

Yes, I’m married, kids, home, relatively stable. But everyone’ timing in that (if ever) is different. And I don’t feel a career woman or student my age is any less adult 🙂 Hey we still all have bills to pay right?
You are seriously one of the brightest young women I have ever met though be it through cyber-space. Your posts constantly inspire me and I often think I have heard all the arguements in certain areas…until I hear yours and realize that I haven’t. You have a gift of pointing out logic that *should be* obviuos, but for some reason is not. I think it is great that you are doing the law thing. Your gift of logical persuasion and communication is something that should not go wasted! So yes you are an adult even though you don’t know if you are going to finish your degree or not sure where to live/ work. You are just on a very different journey than me 🙂

We’ll I hope your 18th birthday was better than the day we had ; ) I like smiley faces too. There’s a few pictures on flicker where you can see my new haircut but you can’t see the highlights that well. Hopefully this weekend we’ll get some more pictures where you can see them better.
1 – In one month and 1 day, I will be 20 and I have never had a boyfriend. I’m actually (surprisingly) okay with that.
2 – I went to four different elementary schools.
3 – I had never mixed cereal (in my entire life) before last Wednesday – I was quite the cereal purist. Now I am rather addicted to Fruit Loops and Honeycomb together.
4 – I love Mexican food more than is natural. Especially spicy Mexican food.
5 – I am also addicted to doing laundry. I can’t explain it. I love making dirty clothes clean. I like picking out detergent and softener. It’s just plain weird.
6 – The Emperor’s New Groove has been my favorite movie since like middle school. Words cannot express my love for that movie.
7 – Whenever I get overwhelmed with school, I tell my friends that I am just going to move to New Zealand to be a hermit (hermitess?) on a beach somewhere in a little hut.
8 – I hate watching violent, gory shows and movies, but I love 24.

I was talking yesterday with a woman my age (26) who has never had a boyfriend. She, too, is okay with that. I think her line is that some things are worth waiting for — like finding basic humanity in a person to date. 😉

Thank you. 🙂 I’m just going through the quarter-life crisis, where it seems like everyone around me is getting settled with their lives, and I’m still stumbling along. (Of course, the fact that my parents had two kids and were getting divorced at my age doesn’t help me to feel much more mature!)
Jenn-my 18th bday was interesting to say the least… but I’ll leave it at that since that is a really huge rabbit trail. I’ll check out your flicker soon.
TR, I think it’s cool you haven’t had a boyfriend since the right guy hasn’t come along. It really is a blessing to be able to develop who you are and LEARN about who you are while you are without ties like that. I learned so much the 4 years I went with out dating before I met my husband (aside from the month i dated a guy- which was a total mess- I was confused to say the least). Before that I was in several serious relationships… and while God did use those experiences to teach me about myself and what was compatible and not compatible… i’m sure I could have learned that on my own and that it is by his grace he took my bad situations to work them for good. 🙂

Times sure are different for us than our parents aren’t they 🙂 You’ll meet a great guy someday. there is no point in settling before that.

Thing is, I don’t know (and many of my friends don’t, either!) when I sleep-talk. Sometimes they bring up a conversation we had the previous night, and I’m there, thinking, “Um… don’t remember that!” One roomie said that I was saying equations in my sleep. I told her that she should have written it down in case it was something good. 😉 My family and friends tell me that it’s actually freaky, because I’ll have a conversation with them and fall back asleep.
MZ, yes, it was fun being in “school” at the same time Tieki was. Not to mention, that kid helped me with some major paper writing in college. Don’t tell anyone, but I remember one particular summer class, Art Appreciation (be it known that I hate any class with the word appreciation in it — as I despise being told what I should appreciate) and Tieki Rae, as a 5th grader, pretty much wrote my paper critiquing a painting in the art museum. I was sort of “testing” the teacher to see if he could recognize 5th grade work and well … if he did recognize it, he liked it because he gave it an A.
Bridget, you and Tieki have yet another thing in common. She is a sleep talker, yeller, and walker. If you ask her about it, she’ll just deny it. And, if she denies it, just mention Revelation 21:8.
